The Association of Professional Sleep Consultants is excited to announce we have expanded into an 8th Region Internationally. We welcome our newest Regional Director, Kate Himsworth to manage this region, Bermuda and the Caribbeans.
Kate comes to us with a wealth of knowledge, having worked with babies and families all over the world for the past 20 years as a certified doula and sleep consultant. She joins our team of seven other Regional Directors, who head up the APSC as experts in the sleep consulting field.
Kate is a mom of four boys, and has recently returned to her home town of Bermuda after residing in Vancouver for the majority of her consulting profession. She lives with her husband and two youngest boys (6 and 7). Her older two boys, now in their mid-twenties (one of whom is getting married in August this year), remain in Canada (where they were both born).
Kate is over the moon to be back working at home, and making a difference by supporting women and families within her local community. “Having been away for over 20 years, the island has changed. What hasn’t changed is the need families have for healthy sleep habits and empathetic support. I am so happy to be able to offer this service, not only here at home in Bermuda, but also throughout the Caribbean”.
Supporting women and their babies has always been Kate’s passion, one which was ignited when she was working as a night nanny during her early university days. “My passion is working with parents to create a smooth transition into new parenthood regardless if they’ve just had their first or fourth child”. What does Kate love most about her job? “Every day is different and every family I work with teaches me something about life I didn’t know."
The Regional Directors play a pivotal role at the APSC, as they are the first point of contact for our members. Each region has unique challenges and opportunities, and our RD’s are scattered globally to address any issues, concerns, or to answer any questions our members may have on a local level. The purpose? To encourage a sense of community, belonging, and connectedness that help us all (as consultants) to support one another, in what can be at times a very isolating profession.
Kate is passionate about what she does, and is very much looking forward her role within the APSC. “I believe that experience is more valuable when it is shared. As Regional Director for Bermuda and the Caribbean I look forward to creating a strong team of consultants and celebrating their successes. Learning from each other and creating a supportive and encouraging environment will foster a strong team spirit, that is what I am most excited about: creating an environment where consultants feel valued, excited to contribute and where they know they are part of a family that values their experience and uniqueness”.
The Regional Directors are also responsible for sharing upcoming events, conferences, and continuous education opportunities, so all members will receive the most up to date information, both in the industry and in their local region. We welcome Kate as she joins our APSC board members, working together to make our Association the leader in its field.
With Warmth, Blessings, and Inspiration,
Mar & The APSC team
